In 1979 Terrence J. Hancock began his career as a Rank-and-File Semi-Dump, Tractor/Trailer Chauffeur.

Eleven years of service as Rank and File Member in the Excavating, Solid Waste and Demolition crafts represented by Local 731. Currently has attained over 40 Years as a Member of Teamsters Local 731.

1989 Appointed as Business Representative on behalf of Teamsters Local Union No. 731.

1997 Elected Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 731.

1999 Appointed as an International Representative by General President James P. Hoffa assigned to the International Headquarters Construction Division located in Washington, D.C.

2002 Appointed as Construction Coordinator of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25.

2002 Appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Italian American Labor Council.

2003 Appointed by General President James P. Hoffa to serve as Trustee to oversee the affairs of Teamsters Local Union No. 738 during Imposition of Trusteeship.

Elected by the Rank and File of Local 731 to serve as President of Teamsters Local Union No. 731 effective January 1, 2005.

Currently serves on the Board of Trustees of all Health/Welfare and Pension Funds of Teamsters Local 731.

Serves as Co-Chairman of the Joint Grievance Committee of the Mid-America Regional Bargaining Association.
2005 Appointed to serve as an Executive Board Member in the position of Trustee on behalf of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25.

2006 Appointed as Central Region Coordinator by General President James P. Hoffa assigned to the International Headquarters Solid Waste, Recycling and Related Industries Division located in Washington, D.C.

2007 Elected to the position of Trustee as a member of the Teamsters Joint Council No. 25 Executive Board.

2007 Appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Amalgamated Bank of Chicago Labor Council.

Presently serves as a Trustee of the Teamsters Local Union No. 731 Scholarship Fund.

2008 Appointed to serve as Recording-Secretary of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25.

2008 Appointed by General President James P. Hoffa as Trustee to oversee the affairs of Teamsters Local Union No. 714 during Imposition of Trusteeship.

2008 Appointed to serve as Vice President of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25.

October 2008, Appointed to the Executive Board of the Chicago Federation of Labor.

In July, 2017, Terrence J. Hancock was appointed to serve the unexpired term of the Office of President of Teamsters Joint Council No. 25. Then in November, 2019, Terry was elected as the 10th President of the Joint Council.

However, Terry’s proudest achievement is his position of President/Director of the “In Search of a Cure” Charitable Organization in honor of his beloved autistic son Bryan; a role he humbly seeks no recognition.
